Shopping Tour in Uzbekistan
I'm Dawn Robbins, of Unexpected Designs. I will be the leader of a fantastic shopping tour through Uzbekistan. We will celebrate the history, culture, warm hospitality, and talented artists of Uzbekistan. We will see some of these artists at work creating unforgettable items. On our journey, we will also visit the historical sites that provide inspiration for so many of the artists. Join me on this exciting, inspiring, journey through Uzbekistan!
Arrival at Tashkent International Airport. You will be met by your personal guide and transfer to your hotel. Our tour today will begin at 10:00 am.
Tashkent, the capital city of Uzbekistan, was a central crossroads of the Great Silk Road for many centuries. It is renowned for its bazaars, handicraft center, museums, art galleries, and ancient sites. Visit the 19th century historical site, Abul Kasim Handicraft Bazaar, where you can see the craftsmen at work and appreciate the skill and techniques used to create these beautiful works of art. Visit the Silk Road section of Tashkent to see the Kukaldash Medresseh and a few other surprises.
This morning we will take the train to Margilan in the Fergana Valley. We will visit the Yodgorlik Silk Factory. At the Silk Factory, we see the process for making ikat. We will overnight in Margilan and in the morning explore other sites and return to Tashkent in the evening.
This morning we take the train to Samarkand. We will enjoy a sightseeing tour to Registan Square and the Guri Emir Mausoleum.
This morning we will take a beautiful drive to Shakhrisabz. Shakhrisabz is the birthplace of Tamerlane. We will enjoy the sites and see some of the beautiful embroidered handbags. We will return to Samarkand in time for dinner.
We will depart Samarkand for Nurota. We will visit two places that make and sell suzanis. Both of these workrooms are owned and operated by women. It is a great opportunity to see how a suzani is made and meet these female entrepreneurs. Following our visit we drive to Navoi for a much needed rest.
Today we depart for Bukhara. Bukhara is a fabulous UNESCO World Heritage Site. We explore the Summer and Winter Residences of the historic Emirs of Bukhara. On one of our evenings we, will enjoy a dinner and folklore show. There will be many options for shopping, sight seeing, or just enjoying a cup of tea.
Morning train to Tashkent, farewell dinner and departures to home bases.
The price of this tour will be $3736.00 per person. If a single is required the single supplement is an additional $478.00. All lodging and transportation within Uzbekistan is included. Breakfast, dinners, and one lunch are included. Each traveler is responsible for airfare to and from Uzbekistan and the cost of their Uzbekistan visa(e-Visas are now available!)
